First Birthday Cake!

Henrik didn't know if the cake is edible when he first saw it. So he started to play with it, and also he was very sleepy that night. He didn't really enjoy the cake. We let him try the cake again in the next day. He finally realized how delicious the cake is.

The Haircut

It's been almost nine months since Henrik's last haircut, and we, his faithful servants, decided to give him a little trim. His long hair lays flat against his scalp, and people were starting to get confused as to whether he was a boy or a girl. First, we tried a pair of dull paper scissors, bad choice. So we switched to some new heavy duty shop scissors. They did the trick, but he moves around so damned much, and we really aren't clear on how to use scissors effectively. After cropping his bangs, we called it a night, to continue the next day.

The electric clippers were far more effective, but Henrik still moved around a lot. No bald spots, but it wasn't quite as neat as we might've hoped. Oh, and there's that little issue with the hairline in back. We can't help but burst into laughter every time we see it. So sue me, I blame the boy.

Henrik 8 Months

Two more teeth, and lots of new cuisine. I've now tried a lemon and apple from my own back yard. Oh, and I much prefer standing to crawling!

Not only can I crawl, I can climb stairs and stand up!

Stand and deliver, your money or your life!

I've learned to climb the stairs. My motivation? Getting in trouble, of course!

Who made these stairs so tall?!

I'd like to file a complaint against the management, these damn stairs are too hard to climb!

Summer Fun

Sunflowers, a bath in Grandma and Granddad's backyard, and showing off how tall I am!

Playing in my jumper

I was having so much fun bouncing in my jumper, I didn't even complain about my arms getting stuck!

Mother's Day

I am now five months old, and there was a big special days celebration today for all the special days my family has in May. And I had my first bowl of real food to celebrate! Aunt Karen pureed squash for me, daddy fed me, and mommy took the photos. I wasn't so sure about those first bites, but I sure had fun being in control of the spoon.

I have two modes

On and off: I'm either smiling or sleeping

His Coolness

Daddy bought me sunglasses to protect his eyes when they go out. But I thought I'd do a little showing off in my room for the cameras, the lighting's better.

Bouncy Butt (and Henrik) go to a Birthday

Henrik's cousin Steven had his fifth birthday party at a park in Sacramento. It was a superhero themed party, so Henrik went as Bouncy Butt, which explains the "BB" on his butt. The outfit, made by Grandma, even came with a cape.

4 Months and Growing Strong

Henrik continues to be happy and healthy, and i continue to be more and more sporadic in my posting. So I've put together a little collection of photos from the last month or so.

How I spend my Saturday mornings

Reading books, playing with toys, and hanging out. Excuse me sir, you have a little something on your chin...

Henrik's TV

We don't want Henrik watching television, but for all you Elvis Costello fans out there, "He's watchin' the piscids; they're so 'coo, coo, coo'...."

The King sits upon his throne

We sat Henrik upright in the corner of the couch, which we've dubbed his throne.

What do you do with a drunken sailor?

Take photos of him, of course!

There won't be many more photos of him in the wool sleeper Grandma Pete made, he's outgrowing it rapidly.

Henrik goes to video

Grunty baby noises, in three parts! If you're only going to watch one, watch part 3. Or play all three simultaneously for triphonic baby babble!

Do you feel a breeze?

Henrik's new hairdo

Daddy's jealousy finally got the better of him, and he lowered Henrik's ears a couple of inches with the clippers. The first trim was yet another learning experience, but Henrik didn't really protest too much, and we're hoping the clippings will produce a nice keepsake for us. I completely missed the "Curly" faces he was making while Yilien was holding him, but there are still some good ones. And yes, his head does feel like a peach when you rub it.

Beds, Baths, and Beyond

Lumping these together. The kid loves to bathe. Well, to be bathed would be more accurate, since we're the ones who do all the laving. "Splish-splash, another bath" is Henrik's first real soap, water, and tub bath. We couldn't wait to give him a real bath once his cord dropped, and he took it in stride.

"Ama gives Henrik a bath" is about a week and a half after "splish-splash". It was his maternal grandmother's first chance to bathe him, and it looks like they both had fun.

"Naked Baby!" is just that, naked baby photos. He's just laying there, enjoying the warm breezes. You can see the little space heater we've set up on the crib mattress specifically to keep him warm during diaper changes and post-bath dressings.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Henrik was being attended to by his servants as the clock rolled over from 2009 to 2010. Aeryn and Melissa came by on the weekend, which I figure is close enough to the new year to include Melissa holding Henrik here.

Season's Greetings!

Season's Greetings!

OK, I confess, I'm cheating by putting this one here. We took these photos on 1/9. So don't think you missed our cards in the mail. We're not sending any. See? Sometimes it pays to take your time taking down the tree. Hell, maybe we'll leave it there until next year, adds a little greenery to the room...

Game Time!

Game Time!

Phil was able to get tickets to a great San Jose Sharks game, against division rivals the Anaheim (not-so-mighty) Ducks. We had a great time, and the Sharks won (I'm now 6-0-0 for games attended). Uncle Phil also gave his new nephew some appropriate swag, one garment is modeled here by Henrik while he and Daddy watch the Sharks on T.V.

Merry Xmas!

Right, so, we've been slacking off on this a bit, so here's a spate of posts, generally in chronological order. We'll begin with Christmas. My sister Karen and her family were unable to attend due to illness; which left us sorely disappointed, as we were hoping to take photos of the cousins together. Not that those photos would've been posted any sooner than these were...
